Review Guidelines

Reviews on Biz Listing Online help people choose a business with confidence. These guidelines explain what we expect from reviewers, what we remove, and how business owners can respond.

What makes a good review

  • Based on your own experience. Write about a product or service you actually bought or used, in your own words.
  • Specific and useful. What did you have done? How was the service, the timing, the price, the result? Details help the next customer.
  • Balanced and honest. Positive or negative, keep it factual and fair. Say what went well and what could have been better.
  • Recent. Review the business as it is today, not an experience from many years ago.
  • Long enough to be helpful. Reviews must be at least 40 characters. One-word reviews are not accepted.

What we remove

We remove reviews, or parts of reviews, that contain:

  • Spam and advertising - promotional text, coupon codes, repeated or copied reviews, and reviews posted in bulk.
  • Links - URLs, email addresses and phone numbers are stripped or the review is rejected. Reviews are for experiences, not for driving traffic elsewhere.
  • Conflicts of interest - reviews written by the business owner, its staff or family, by competitors, or in exchange for payment or a discount.
  • Personal data - full names of staff, home addresses, licence plates, photos of people who did not agree to be shown, or any other private information.
  • Hate, harassment and threats - abusive language, discrimination, or content that attacks a person rather than describes a service.
  • Off-topic or irrelevant content - political commentary, complaints about a different business, or content unrelated to a customer experience.
  • Illegal content - anything that breaks the law or encourages others to.

Moderation

Every review is screened automatically for the problems above. Reviews that look suspicious are held for a manual check by our team before they appear. This usually takes less than one business day.

We do not edit the substance of a review and we do not remove a review simply because a business disagrees with it. A review that breaks these guidelines may be removed at any time, including after it has been published, and repeat offenders may lose the ability to post.

How business owners can reply

Owners who manage a listing can post one public reply beneath each review from their account. Sign in, open the listing page and use the Reply option under the review.

  • Thank the reviewer and keep it short and professional, even when the review is critical.
  • Address the specific point raised and explain what you have done or will do about it.
  • Take detailed disputes offline: invite the customer to contact you directly.
  • Replies follow the same rules as reviews: no links, no personal data, no abuse.

How to report a review

If you believe a review breaks these guidelines, email support@bizlistingonline.com with:

  • the link to the listing page,
  • the reviewer name and date of the review,
  • which guideline you think it breaks and why.

We look at every report and reply once a decision has been made. Reports are confidential and the reviewer is not told who reported them.

These guidelines may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the review feature means you accept the current version, together with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
